Optimises production efficiency: PC-based Control

As the worldwide trade show for production and assembly automation, Motek 2018 is exhibiting the highlights of assembly and handling technology. The advantages of PC-based Control technology can be experienced at the Beckhoff trade show booth in hall 8: The entire process chain of individual machines as well as complete production lines can be controlled and monitored through the system integration of handling, image processing, measurement technology and motion on a central software and hardware platform.

Motion, robotics and vision on a single control platform

Tasks can easily be synchronised and the engineering simplified through the implementation of the image processing in the same environment as the PLC, motion and robotics. Delays due to communication are completely eliminated. Everything can be configured and programmed in a single tool. The machine manufacturer retains the image processing know-how.

TwinCAT Vision: integrating image processing into automation

As the eye of the robot, TwinCAT Vision integrates all the image processing applications into the PC-based control platform: from detection, measurement and identification through to pick-and-place and quality checking. Engineering takes place directly in the PLC. The open control system allows the connection of freely selectable line-scan and area-scan cameras with support for the GigE vision standard.

Integrated measurement technology increases product quality

At Motek 2018 Beckhoff is exhibiting a solution for the cost-effective integration of measurement technology: the new ELM314x economy terminal series in the 1 ksps sample class. It allows the high-precision measurement of 10 V/20mA signals with an accuracy of 100 ppm over a wide temperature range at low channel costs.

Integrated drive technology reduces space requirements in the control cabinet

The AMP8000 servo motor with directly integrated servo drive paves the way for the minimisation of the control cabinet. The performance values remain unchanged with a virtually identical size. Reduction to a single coupling module supplying several servo motors via a single cable saves material, space, costs and mounting effort.

Ultra-compact Industrial PCs minimise the machine footprint

With the C6015 and C6030 – the new ultra-compact Industrial PC generation – new areas of use can be tapped while minimising mounting space and the footprint of machines at the same time. The C6030 has now significantly expanded the power spectrum at the top end once again: It integrates Intel® Core™-i processors of the 6th and 7th generation in a space of 132 x 132 x 67 mm and offers maximum performance with up to 3.6 GHz and four cores.
