With almost 90,000 trade visitors from 83 different countries, this year's AMB (13 - 17 September 2016) was as successful as last year. This was confirmed by more than 1,400 exhibitors of the international exhibition for metal working in Stuttgart. Particularly pleasing was the high level of visitor quality, because around 75% came with specific purchasing and investment intentions to the fair. 

The metal working and processing industry recorded almost 25% of the total visitors. Lothar Horn, Chairman of the Association for Precision Tools of VDMA, said: "The very high level of the previous event was maintained. The talks at the booths were made extremely fun and the halls were really full. We felt really comfortable and convinced Stuttgart is the right place for AMB".

This year, we focused on the expansion and further development of the already established product portfolio in the areas of turning, drilling and milling. For instance we presented our new carbide grade AC6020M for high speed turning of stainless steel. The CVD-coated grade with our innovative ,,Absotech Platinum" technology covers a more extensive range of applications of previous generation AC610M from continuous to light interrupted cutting. The advantage over AC610M is an improved fracture toughness and higher notch wear resistance. 

We also presented the programme expansion of SMD MultiDrill with 12 x D holder for extremely stable deep hole drilling. Equipped with a cylindrical shank and an additional flange, stability and drilling accuracy have been significantly increased. Thanks to its polishing flute, SMD achieves an improved chip evacuation. The detachable head type drill utilizes a radial serrated connection design for high precision and strength. SMD drill provides higher productivity and cost efficiency with easy tool management. 

The RSX Wave Radius Mill for difficult to cut materials has been expanded by two additional insert sizes and two new carbide grades. ACP200 grade for steel machining and ACK300 grade for cast iron. RSX cutter enables stable machining even when using equipment with low clamp rigidity thanks to its body design achieving excellent cutting performance and rigidity. 

Overall, we are very pleased with the atmosphere, quality and number of visitors and look forward to the next AMB in 2018.
