Hwacheon Machinery Europe GmbH is proud to present its newest multitasking lathe, the i2, featuring a B-axis, at EMO 2025 in Hannover. Making its European debut, this innovative machine will be showcased live under cutting conditions, demonstrating its advanced capabilities to industry professionals.

The i2 is designed to perform complex turning and milling operations in a single setup, significantly reducing production times and enhancing accuracy. Its B-axis, with a ±120-degree swivel range and Hirth coupling in 5° increments, enables precise angular tool positioning, making it possible to machine intricate geometries without multiple setups. The main spindle delivers 22 kW of power at up to 5,000 rpm with 467 Nm of torque, complemented by a sub-spindle for complete part machining.

Equipped with a 40-station tool magazine (expandable to 80), the i2 supports a wide range of operations, from simple turning to complex milling and drilling, with driven tools offering up to 22 kW of power. This makes it particularly suitable for industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing, where precision and complex part geometries are critical.

The i2 features a robust 14,000 kg Meehanite cast bed, providing exceptional stability. Its axis strokes are 630 mm (X), 300 mm (Y), and 1,160 mm (Z), supporting a maximum cutting diameter of 600 mm and a cutting length of 1,100 mm. The machine offers a chuck size of 200 mm (expandable to 250 mm) and a maximum bar size of 52 mm (expandable to 65 mm). Its advanced control system, including Fanuc 0i with Harmony, Sinumerik One, or Fanuc 31i options, simplifies programming and operation, while Industry 4.0 readiness supports smart manufacturing integration.

Additional features include a Y-axis for 3-axis interpolation, twin turret technology, high-quality pretensioned ball screws, internal coolant supply, and dynamic linear guides. Optional components such as a parts catcher, chip conveyor, and tool measurement system enhance functionality, while the 310-liter coolant tank ensures efficient chip evacuation.

Attendees can witness the i2’s capabilities firsthand at EMO 2025, taking place from September 22 to 26, 2025, at Hwacheon’s stand in Hall 15, Stand B36. Hwacheon’s specialists will be on hand to demonstrate the machine’s features and discuss customization options to meet specific manufacturing needs.
