Paul Webster, CNC Engineering Manager at Fanuc, explains what the Visual Twin is used for and how ModuleWorks supports them.
“Talking about Industry 4.0, this shows a network solution with a lot of graphical potential, the ability to do virtual commissioning from the office without any risk to the machine. This basically closes the loop between the shop floor and what you are trying to do in the offices.”The Visual Twin works just like a real CNC machine but, instead of servo motors, Fanuc has #3D graphical software that runs a real-time simulation of the machine kinematics using inputs from a CNC control. “It is exactly like running a machine tool.”
Together with Toyoda Machinery, Fanuc created the 3D model for the #machine which was then integrated into the #software. This is where we come into play – ModuleWorks, as a partner, develops the software that generates the 3D #kinematics and the motion control, known as the Visual Twin.
